Johnny ArcherThe Music City Classic, hosted by JOB Billiards in Madison, TN, began tonight, with a huge field of over 110 billiard players to vie for top honors. This prestigious event, which is held annually in the “Third Coast,” has brought out the crème de la crème of the best players in the country.
Defending champion Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer, who is an eight-time winner of this event, is here yet again to see if he can top the field. Joining him is Shannon “The Cannon” Daulton, a four-time champ in Music City. Other world-beaters present and accounted for would include Cliff Joyner, Jose Parica, Buddy Hall, Gabe Owen, Jonathan Pinegar, Brandon Ashcraft, Scotty Townsend, Chad Vilmon, Chris Bartram, and Brandon Ashcraft.
As the women’s event will not begin until Friday, there are few present as yet. However, the players are already getting geared up for the infamous Midnight Madness event, which commences at 12:00 a.m. Sunday morning and continues until only 1 of the 16 players remains. This single-elimination, late-night format is brutal, but the $8,000 winner-takes-all payout is sweet.
