ACS Elects New Board of DirectorsAt its recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the 2006 ACS Nationals, the ACS board of directors was renewed to include three new directors: Bob Calderone (representing the National Wheelchair Poolplayers Association), Bob Jewett (representing the United States Billiard Association) and Jay Wegener (newly appointed by the Minnesota ACS). Mike Wilson (Southern Amusement Pool League VA) was elected to a two year term as a Sanctioned League Member director, and Dwaine Bowman (Leisure Time Billiards IL) was elected to a two-year term as a Room Operator director. Dwaine Bowman was elected by the board to the office of Secretary. The other officers were re-elected to their positions for another year.The ACS continues to build its membership base while expanding its alliance with other non-profit associations to guide United States cue sports towards a unified image and promotion of the sport.

The lineup of shows feature event champions Ralf Souquet and Jasmin Ouschan in their semi- and final rounds — and will now be aired on back-to-back Sundays, beginning July 16 at 3:00 pm eastern.

July 11th, 2006International Pool Tour and Popular UK Channel Team up in Major Broadcasting DealPLAYER, the hot new competition-based channel in the United Kingdom, has announced plans to broadcast International Pool Tour events and programming. The channel, which is available on the UKs popular Sky Digital satellite service and Telewest cable, is seen in over 14 million UK households. The channel is owned by Flextech, a major broadcasting group in Europe. PLAYER was launched as a companion channel to Flextechs popular Bravo channel. It has attracted significant viewing audiences and media attention for its unique mix of top flight international soccer to premier poker championships to the adrenaline-soaked worlds of boxing and high-class motorsports. The channel will launch high-octane IPT programming this fall with the North American Open 8-Ball Championship highlight series, featuring UK cue sport stars such as Ronnie OSullivan and Jimmy White. The IPTs King of the Hill 8-Ball Shootout series will also premiere on PLAYER.

July 10th, 2006IPT Pros Clean up at Fast Eddies Eventby Rick DavisThe hot summer months heated up the action at the Fast Eddies Olhausen 9-Ball Tour, where Charlie Bryant stormed through the open division and Kyu Yi followed suit and cleaned house on the womens board. The July 8-9 stop sizzled at Fast Eddies in Austin, TX, for the tours seventh event of the 12-stop season.Starting with a robust 96 entries, late play on Sunday narrowed the field to a handful remaining. Semifinal action had Marco Marquez defeat J.P. Lopez in the hot seat 7-4, sending him to the lions den on the one-loss side. That lion would be Charlie Bryant and would eliminate Lopez from play. In the finals, the crowd gathered and cheered the mini-IPT match as Bryant and Marquez faced off, but after his return from the one-loss side Bryant was ready to win, defeating Marquez 9-4.

The July 8-9 weekend was a huge success with 12 A and A+ players, 32 B and B+ players, 32 C and C+ players, and 24 D and D+ players showing up to play in their respective classes.Amsterdam Billiards Bar owners Greg and Ethan Hunt, along with the staff, were gracious hosts and provided a professional and engaging atmosphere for the event. They donated two $400 Espiritu cues and two Silver Fox cue cases to the event, as well as their room and the table time.

July 9th, 2006Matlock Locks Up Shooters and Goes Undefeatedby Rick DavisFighting through three long days and nights of play, David Matlock finished undefeated at the open 9-ball event taking place July 7-9 at Shooters Billiards in Olathe, KS. In total, 103 entries came to compete in the double-elimination, race-to-9 event that took place on the heels of a one-pocket tournament and ran side-by-side with a ladies event.Matlock slowly crept through the winners side, taking six matches then the hot seat. In all but two of his matches he gave up less then three racks until the hot seat match, where he defeated James Baraks 9-7. Action on the one-loss side was just as rough as the top six players were still alive as play reached the late evening. Mike Banks Jr., a local top gun at 18 years old, defeated James Walden 9-7, while Josh Johnson bested Rusty Capes 9-5.

IPT pro Mike Davis and frequent winner on the tour returned from the one-loss side to nearly shut out his opponent in the finals.Another tour frequenter, Matt Krah beat a path through the winners side, besting Jerry Slivka 7-3 in the hot seat match. On the one-loss side, Billy Kirshner breezed past Brent Shreiner 7-0, while Davis defeated Shawn Wilkie 7-4. Davis met Kirshner in the next round and took another match 7-4 in order to face Slivka for the right to see the finals.

Hall fought through the winners bracket early on, defeating three early opponents 3-1 then Jesse Bowman 3-2 until finally being bested in the hot seat by Brian Jones. On the one-loss side he continued to play strong, defeating Danny Harriman 3-2 to reach the finals.Jones was a tough player to face after he defeated two opponents 3-0 then another 3-1 and 3-2 before claiming the hot seat. With 40 entries, the event was anyones game, but Hall would not be denied his victory.
