I changed the shaft and everything.”Regarding his upcoming match with fellow countryman Thorsten Hohmann’s eliminator Moore, Ortmann replied, “I’ve never played him before, so I don’t want to think about him. I want to concentrate on my own game. If my break works well and I can find my stroke, then I don’t see a reason to think about my opponent.”

120 Return for Round 2 in Billiards Tournament

120 Return for Round 2 in Billiards TournamentDiscuss the IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship (/forums/index.php)Visit the IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship Image Gallery (/pool_billiard_photos/index.php?cat=16&page=3)True to form, “Rocket” Rodney Morris was the first player finished this morning, handing Sarah Ellerby a stunning 8-0 defeat. “I played well, I played very well,” Morris said cheerfully. “I won eight- zero. I didn’t nickname myself—there is a reason! My matches are all like thirty minutes. I’m breaking good and playing good, so I feel happy. I feel real good about my group. I played Sarah Ellerby just now, and she is not the favorite in our group, so you gotta figure she will lose most of the matches, so it was very important to win—and win convincingly—and I think I did that.”

I think tomorrow I will break a little softer than today. I’ve got the stamina, so I feel good for tomorrow.”American dark horse Jason Kirkwood won three matches out of four today in a tough bracket that included Marco Marquez, Vincent Facquez, Monica Webb, and Jonathan Macias. Marquez and Webb did not advance. “It went pretty well today until my last match,” Kirkwood stated. “I was up six-three, then the guy ran four on me. But at least I advance—I am happy because I really didn’t play that well. My break was failing me a lot but I’m still hangin’.

I’d like to play a bit better, but three out of three—I can’t complain. I’ve been watching and no one has been making balls on the break … I’m feelin’ good and hope I will advance. The way I am playing, I am staying positive. You know every day is different and you have to wait and see.”

World Open Entering Fourth Round

World Open Entering Fourth RoundDiscuss the IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship (/forums/index.php)Visit the IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship Image Gallery (/pool_billiard_photos/index.php?cat=16&page=3) “I feel good—much better this event,” Thornfeldt confirmed. “The last event … I felt prepared going in, then once I got there I felt intimidated. I’m real happy now, I’ve been working hard on my game. I went home and totally redid my game. I know I’m a great player, and I don’t need to feel like this. I can play, so I just built myself a new routine and I feel great. I’m two and one after three matches. I think its very tough. Of course if I win, I will be guaranteed, but I could maybe still advance. I’m going to play the last match real hard—it’s a good player who just beat Corey. I think every match is a great match, and I’m just trying to play my game.”
