Eurosport Kicks Off IPT ProgrammingLeading Pan-European Sports Network To Broadcast History-Making Sigel Vs. Jones MatchLondon UK: 6th July, 2006: Eurosport, the leading tv sports network in France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, amongst other European territories, has announced that it will broadcast the IPT World 8-Ball Championship match this Saturday July 8th in prime-time. The historic match, which pitted pool legend Mike The Mouth Sigel against female Hall of Famer LoreeJon Jones, was held at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and was hailed as the most star-studded event in pool history. Sigel vs. Jones will kick off a comprehensive schedule of International Pool Tour programming on Eurosport, which will broadcast all 2006 IPT events live, in prime-time, throughout Europe.

The winner-take-all $50,000 event will be held August 9 -10 at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville, CT.The Challenge of Champions is widely considered the toughest tournament to win in professional billiards. Once each year eight international champions are brought together in a sudden-death shootout with a pressure-cooker format of winner-take-all for $50,000. The purse is one of the highest paydays in the world, and the winner claims one of the most coveted titles in pool Champion of Champions.

The Duchess of Doom, Allison Fisher, blew past her opponents Debbie Schjodt 9-3 and Sarah Rousey 9-0, one of only two 9-0 matches to take place. Sarah Ellerby, currently ranked number 10 on tour, squeaked past her first match with Darlene Stinson 9-7, then took much more control in her second, against Stacy Hurst, only allowing Hurst two games. Ellerby commented, The first match is always difficult, when asked about her dramatic improvement. Also, Ellerby, like many others were plagued with break problems, causing the tournament director to rack many racks across the various matches. Ellerby called the breaks scrappy for all the players, which she said was causing a lot of safeties. This was apparent as the matches ran over time and nearly one-quarter were put on the clock.
