I think he was the weakest playing in our group and it’s a good start at one-nill. I’m feeling confident and looking forward to playing my matches.”Americans Dennis Hatch lost his first match of the day, which was against Yannick Beaufils, 8-3, while John “Mr. 400” Schmidt lost a hill-hill battle too Sandor Tot of Serbia. No, actually Dennis Hatch is in that group too. We have a pretty sporty group there. Johl Younger is a good player, finished fifth in the World Championships several years ago, and then he quit playing for a while, and now he’s back. Not too many people know him, but I know him quite well, and he’s always capable. I didn’t know Yannick before. In total, the group, maybe from the names not as big as many people thing, but I think it’s a very strong group.”

I’m three and oh. Now I’m playing good, seeing my patterns better. I’ve got my mixture right of my energy pills, Mountain Dew, energy drinks, and bananas. Best thing is you play all day long and that’s when you see peoples games shine, when they play all day … that’s what you want when you’re shooting good.”

McCready, famous for his portrayal of Grady Seasons in “The Color of Money” and his line, “It’s like a nightmare, isn’t it?” reached the hill first with Schmidt at 6 but badly missed the 8 ball. Unable to believe his luck, Schmidt cleared his balls from the table to make the match double-hill. A dry break from Schmidt turned the table back over to McCready, whose fourth shot wobbled … but still dropped. “Time out for me, baby,” McCready announced, walking away to grab a bottle of water.
